YouGotRanked ("we", "us", "our") takes your privacy seriously. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, and your rights over it. By using the platform you agree to the practices described here.

1. Data We Collect

Information you provide

Account data: your name, company email address, and password (stored as a hash).
Analysis inputs: website URLs, company names, competitor names, and custom prompts you enter.
Audit booking data: contact preference, timezone, and business challenge description provided when booking an AI Visibility Audit.
Payment data: billing details are handled entirely by Razorpay. We store only the Razorpay order ID and payment status, never your card number or banking details.

Information collected automatically

Usage data: pages visited, features used, analysis history, and credit balance.
Technical data: IP address, browser type, device type, and session identifiers used to maintain your login session.

2. How We Use Your Data

To provide, operate, and improve the YouGotRanked platform.
To run AI brand visibility analyses on your behalf using third-party AI APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini, Perplexity).
To send transactional emails: account verification, password reset, analysis notifications, and audit booking confirmations.
To send a one-time welcome email when you register (you can opt out by replying to that email).
To process and verify payments via Razorpay.
To detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents.
To comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising or behavioural profiling.

3. Third-Party Services

To deliver the YouGotRanked platform, we work with trusted third-party service providers for functions including cloud hosting, database storage, payment processing, transactional email, and AI analysis. We share only the minimum personal data necessary for each provider to perform their function, and we require them to process it solely for that purpose.

We do not sell your data to third parties, and we do not share it for advertising or marketing purposes unrelated to our service.

Where data is transferred outside India, we rely on standard contractual clauses or equivalent safeguards recognised under applicable data protection laws.

4. Data Retention

Account data is retained for as long as your account is active.
Analysis reports are stored indefinitely so you can revisit them, unless you request deletion.
On account deletion, your personal data is removed within 30 days. Anonymised, aggregated usage statistics may be retained.
Payment records are retained for 7 years as required by applicable tax and accounting laws.

5. Cookies and Session Data

We use a single session cookie to keep you logged in. This cookie is HTTP-only, secure (HTTPS-only in production), and expires after 7 days of inactivity. We do not use third-party tracking or advertising cookies.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

Access the personal data we hold about you.
Correct inaccurate data.
Delete your account and associated personal data.
Object to or restrict certain uses of your data.
Portability: request a copy of your data in a machine-readable format.

7. Security

We implement industry-standard safeguards including HTTPS-only access, bcrypt password hashing, HTTP-only session cookies, and environment-variable-based secret management. No system is perfectly secure; please use a strong, unique password and notify us immediately if you suspect a breach.

8. Children

YouGotRanked is intended for business users aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has registered, contact us and we will delete the account promptly.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you by email at least 14 days before material changes take effect. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
